The Well

Updated: Dec 22, 2022

“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” – Jesus (John 4:14)

Just imagine never being thirsty again , what a lovely thought to never be deprived of an essential element for survival. The woman Jesus was speaking to in the above verse was hoping for just that , relief, fulfillment, peace , security, stability….

Contrary to popular belief, the woman was not a promiscuous or adulterous woman, she was a woman that was afraid. The Samaritan woman Jesus saved at Jacob’s well in John 4 was a woman who thought her security was in her marriage.

What are some things you are clinging to in a desperate attempt to secure yourself by yourself?

Is it pain ?

Is it drugs?

Is it pride?

Is it lust ?

Is it money?

Whatever you are using as your counterfeit safe haven still leaves you thirsty after a few sips and you deserve better. You have an option to receive something that will satisfy your soul.

As you further realize in John chapter 4 between the encounter with Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well you learn her people did not mix or did not feel worthy enough to mix with the Jews.

This is another dynamic to add to our need to feel we have use alternative routes to find peace in our lives. You feel you have to come already saved to accept the surety of salvation, that is a lie from the pits of Hell! If you were already clean coming to Jesus then you would not need His help to save you from eternal damnation. So push that self-righteous stuff to the side and come to Jesus so you will not have to hunger anymore. If you could save yourself you would have done it a LONG time ago plus you would not be doing any and everything to feel something.

I say to you today to put down all your counterfeits that WILL fade away in death and come accept Jesus, the living water. Come see a man that has literally told me everything I have done and still loves me another to die for me and most importantly die for you so that you can live.

When you have time today read John 4 to get a deeper meaning of what Jesus wants to do for you in your life even today.

I love you and more importantly, God loves you enough to send His son Jesus to die for your sins.
